Show, Don’t Tell
Deconstructed Recount
WRITE ABOUT IT | DRAW A PICTURE |
SEE Sand dunes towering over me as I rode along into the misty distance. Waves crashing into the shore.
HEAR I heard the rumble of the rusty engine as I rode along, the sound making my ears ring.
| |
TASTE I tasted salt as I bit into a salty delicious chip, LP sliding down my throat after taking a big sip. |
WRITE ABOUT IT | DRAW A PICTURE |
SMELL delicious chips and a hotdog on a stick, the smell is unbearably good
FEEL feel cold as I dove into the frigid water and I feel intermediate coldness. |
Hello casper my name is Mikaira and I go to Paihia School. I like how you explain the 5 senses because it draws a picture in my head and that is good. Did you think about eating while you were doing this because it seemed like it. Why is it called a Recount and have you actually done these things before?
ReplyDeleteKia ora Casper, my name is Alexander and I am a year 6 student from Paihia School. I really like your deconstructed recount because you used so many descriptive words for what you saw, heard, tasted, smelt and felt. I really enjoyed reading this because you only put in a little bit of words and pictures.
ReplyDeleteDid you have a nice holiday?
Kia ora Casper, it's Aliyah from room 5. I really liked how you explained the 5 senses and you used so many descriptive words. Maybe give us some more detail and stuff like where was it? keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteKia ora Casper, my name is Gail and I am a year 8 student at Paihia School. I like your post because when you wrote about your five senses you added a lot of detail to make your writing different. This post reminds me of when my class did inference which is similar to show not tell.
ReplyDeleteDid you get to pick the pictures you’ve described?
Hi Casper my name is Eli from Ahipara School. I loved those pictures of the beaches and the hot chips, they looked so good. Maybe next time you can check the words that you spelt. Where were you riding. Blog ya later!
ReplyDeleteHi Casper. My name is Mark a student at Paihia School. I really like your blog "Deconstructed Recount” because you have added the five senses and wrote a lot of detail on your writing to make sense . This blog reminds me of when my class did inferencing which is similar to show not tell.
ReplyDeleteDid you get to pick the pictures you’ve described or did you get it from the timetable?
Hello Casper its Tait from room 5. I liked how you added lots of detail to you recount. Maybe next time you could check your spelling, blog ya latter.

ReplyDeleteKia ora Casper, ko Ms Peters toku ingoa. Nō te kura o Ahipara ahau.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your Deconstructed recount. I like the way I could see the images you described in my mind. To be better than before (BTB) maybe you could add more detail by writing a paragraph for each sense. Keep up the good effort! Mā te wa, Ms Peters.

ReplyDeleteHey Casper, my name is Marley and I am a year 6 student from Paihia School. I like your blog post about the 5 senses, because you have added a lot of detail to your writing. This blog post reminds me of last year in my old class when we did the same thing. Next time in your blog post you should add more photos. What else have you been doing?
